Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield rounded at bottom blazoned:  Or, on a pile Gules, between two lightning bolts palewise issuant from base of the second, a sun above a winged antiaircraft projectile and case, palewise and point to base, all of the first.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Red scroll turned Gold inscribed WE STRIKE WITH CAUSE in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Red and yellow are used for Artillery.  The winged projectile and case pointing downward indicates the Battalions airborne classification-artillery brought in by air-the lightning bolts represent its antiaircraft function.  The sun is for combat service in the Philippines, World War II, the pile referring to the assault landing at Luzon.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 April 1952.
